Colvin, Second Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 18th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action in the Bois-de-Belleau, France, June 13, 1918. With another soldier, Lieutenant Colvin advanced under the fire of an enemy machine gun, killed four of the crew and captured the gun.
