The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Earl Billingsley, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Dun- sur-Meuse, France, November 5, 1918. Sergeant Billingsley voluntarily went forward alone against an enemy machine-gun nest which was holding up the advance of his line, wounding and capturing one prisoner and putting the remaining occupant to flight.
