The Navy Cross is awarded to Lieutenant Commander Earl T. Farwell, U.S. Navy, for distinguished service as executive officer of the U.S.S. Wakiva on the occasion of the engagement of that vessel with a German submarine, as a result of which the submarine was destroyed.
