The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Edouard Perrin, Brigadier, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Gesnes, France, October 4, 1918. During the first attack on Hill 255 Brigadier Perrin’s tank was destroyed and he was captured. On the following night he escaped and on the following day took part in the second attack on the hill. He was wounded soon after the engagement began, but continued to operate his gun, giving an important support to our advancing Infantry. He refused to leave the field for treatment until the mission had been successfully completed.
