    The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Edward B. Brown, Private, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action south of Sedan, France, November 7, 1918. Private Brown, aided by his corporal, advanced upon a machine-gun position which was causing severe losses to their company. Disregarding personal danger, they silenced the machine gun, thus enabling their company to continue the advance with few losses.
