Emmanual P. F. Gauffeny

The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Emmanual P. F. Gauffeny, Lieutenant, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action in the St. Mihiel sector, France, September 26, 1918. Commanding and leading a raid against the enemy, in spite of the severe shelling Lieutenant Gauffeny reached his objective and took many prisoners. His great courage during most hazardous reconnaissances won the admiration of all under his command, and the information he supplied was always of the utmost value.
