Ernest L. Bennett

The Navy Cross is presented to Ernest L. Bennett, Captain, U.S. Navy, for distinguished service in the line of his profession in charge of the training of enlisted men. Under his administration, this vitally important work was so efficiently planned and executed that hundreds of thousands of raw recruits were added to the effective force of the Navy with the result that every vessel was fully manned when ready for commissioning.
