The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Colonel Eugene Asa Carr, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 7 March 1862, while serving with 3d Illinois Cavalry, in action at Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Colonel Carr directed the deployment of his command and held his ground, under a brisk fire of shot and shell in which he was several times wounded.
