The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Eugene Guinet, Lieutenant, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Nantillois, Meuse, October 6, 1918. Lieutenant Guinet displayed remarkable gallantry and devotion to duty when he engaged in combat against a superior force of enemy pursuit planes. In the course of the action his pilot was killed. Lieutenant Guinet took control of the machine and brought it back under fire to friendly territory and was seriously wounded in the landing.
