Francis A. Humphreys

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant Francis A. Humphreys, Jr. (AFSN: AO-1911423), United States Air Force, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as Pilot of an F-86 Sabrejet Fighter Airplane of the 39th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 51st Fighter-Interceptor Group, FIFTH Air Force, in action over Korea in 1952. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.
