    The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Frank Brown, Corporal, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Mezy, France, July 15, 1918. Having been detailed to carry rations to another company of his regiment, and learning, upon his arrival there, that an attack was imminent, Corporal Brown volunteered and remained with the company commander. He continued on duty long after he had been mortally wounded, and was killed in action later in the day.
