    By direction of the President and under the provisions of Army Regulations 600-45, 22 September 1943, as amended, the Silver Star is awarded to Technician Fourth Grade Frank J. Harnos, Armored, ****, United States Army. For gallantry in action in the vicinity of ****, Belgium on 2 January 1945. He left the *********** safety of his **** and braved intense enemy small arms, mortar, and artillery fire on two occasions to rescue casualties from tanks that had been hit by anti-tank fire. His gallant actions with complete disregard for his own safety saved the lives of the wounded men and is in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service.
