    The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pride in presenting the Medal of Honor (Posthumously) to Private George A. Buchanan, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 29 September 1864, while serving with Company G, 148th New York Infantry, in action at Chapin’s Farm, Virginia. Private Buchanan took position in advance of the skirmish line and drove the enemy’s cannoneers from their guns; was mortally wounded.
