George E. Stern

The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to George E. Stern (0-90398), First Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with 3d Force Reconnaissance Company, 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, 3d Marine Division (Rein.), FMF, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on November 9, 1966. By his courage, aggressive fighting spirit and steadfast devotion to duty in the face of extreme personal danger, First Lieutenant Stern upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
