The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to George M. Connell (0-89342), First Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with Company C, First Battalion, Ninth Marines, THIRD Marine Division, in action against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on 21 May 1966.
