George W. Smith

The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to George W. Smith (0-50104), Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving as Commanding Officer of the First Battalion, Ninth Marines, THIRD Marine Division, in action against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on 18 March 1969.
