Womack, Private, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the Machine-Gun Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near Beaumont, France, November 7, 1918. Private Womack was wounded early in the attack, but he refused to be evacuated, and continued in the advance for five days, until he was rendered helpless by a second wound.
