The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Sergeant John Henry Helms, United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism on board the U.S.S. Chicago, for heroism in rescuing Ishi Tomizi, ship’s cook, from drowning at Montevideo, Uruguay, 10 January 1901.
