The Navy Cross is awarded to Boatswain’s Mate Second Class John M. Bouchard, U.S. Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service as a member of the crew of the U.S.S. McCall on September 9, 1918, the Canadian Pacific ocean service passenger S. S. Missanbie was torpedoed twice by a German sub. Boatswain’s Mate Second Class Bouchard, with other members of the crew, rescued the survivors of the Missanbie at imminent risk of life, and for this heroic duty should be considered as having performed distinguished service in the line of duty.
