John W. Berryhill

The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to John W. Berryhill, Private First Class, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Bellicourt, France, September 29, 1918. With eight other soldiers, comprising the company headquarters detachment, Private First Class Berryhill assisted his company commander in cleaning out enemy dugouts along a canal and capturing 242 prisoners.
