The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Joseph L. Bradley, Private First Class, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Medeah Ferme, France, October 8, 1918. Without regard for his own safety, Private Bradley worked unceasingly as a stretcher bearer, caring for the wounded of other companies, as well as of those of his own, and inspiring others to greater efforts by his example of courage and endurance
