    The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Leon W. Inman, Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 43d Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near Blanc Mont, France, October 4, 1918. Sergeant Inman led his platoon in attack, setting an example by keeping several yards in advance of the men. He also assisted in dressing the wounds of members of his platoon under machine-gun and artillery fire. After being wounded, he remained with his platoon until ordered to leave by the medical officer.
