Louis Verry

The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Louis Verry, Marechal des Logis, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Soissons, France, July 18, 1918. Under heavy enemy shellfire Marechal des Logis Verry volunteered to lead a liaison patrol for the purpose of establishing liaison with French units on the left. He and three American soldiers were killed by shellfire after advancing only a few yards on this perilous mission.
