Michael Deneef

The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Captain of the Top Michael Deneef, United States Navy, for distinguished and heroic conduct while serving on board the U.S.S. Swatara at Para, Brazil, 1 December 1875. Displaying gallant conduct, Captain of the Top Deneef jumped overboard and rescued one of the crew of that vessel from drowning.
