The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Nineveh Shaw McKeen, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 30 December 1862, while serving with Company H, 21st Illinois Infantry. First Lieutenant McKeen was conspicuous in the charge at Stone River, Tennessee, where he was three times wounded. At Liberty Gap, Tennessee, on 25 June 1863, he captured colors of 8th Arkansas Infantry (Confederate States of America).
