The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Machinist’s Mate First Class Oscar Frederick Nelson, United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism on board the U.S.S. BENNINGTON, displayed at the time of the explosion of a boiler of that vessel at San Diego, California, 21 July 1905.
