    The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Captain (Infantry) Paul Ambrose Oliver, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 15 May 1864, while serving with Company D, 12th New York Infantry, in action at Resaca, Georgia. While acting as aide, Captain Oliver assisted in preventing a disaster caused by Union troops firing into each other.
