The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Prentice S. Geer, Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 67th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action at Chateau-Thierry, France, on June 6, 1918. Having become isolated when the enemy counterattacked his group, Corporal Geer courageously charged with a bayonet and, with the assistance of his comrades, captured a machine-gun crew and repulsed the attack at that point.
