The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to Robert A. Moulton, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for gallantry in action against an armed enemy of the United States on 17 March 1945. During the attack on Coblenz, Germany, Sergeant Moulton saw a member of his company fall wounded approximately 15 yards in front of an advancing friendly tank. In spite of small arms and panzerfaust fire being directed at the advancing tank by the enemy, Sergeant Moulton made his way to the road and picked up the fallen man and carried him to safety. A few moments later another man fell in the path of the advancing tank, again Sergeant Moulton crawled to the road and rescued the lives of the two men and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army and his training as a soldier.
