Robert Dano
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Robert Dano, Second Lieutenant of Artillery, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Somme-Py, France, October 3 – 8, 1918. Lieutenant Dano displayed conspicuous gallantry during operations of the Second American Division, and when his captain was killed and the company had suffered heavy losses, he promptly effected a reorganization. With great heroism and able leadership, he then pushed forward the assault in the face of heavy shell fire.
