Robert J. Ramsay
Silver Star
U.S. Army
World War II
The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to Technician Grade 4 Robert J. Ramsay of the United States Army, for gallantry in action on 8 October 1944, in Germany. When an enemy counterattack, consisting of two tanks supported by infantry, penetrated to the center of an occupied town, Technician Ramsay volunteered to reconnoiter for a position to bring effective bazooka fire on the enemy. Despite being observed and fired on several times, he found a strategic position and then brought up the bazooka team and aided in knocking out one tank, thereby forcing the remaining enemy to withdraw. Entered military service from Massachusetts.
