The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Roland Ray Jamison, Pharmacist’s Mate First Class, U.S. Navy, for extraordinary heroism in action near St. Etienne, France, October 4 – 5, 1918. Regardless of his personal danger, Pharmacist’s Mate Jamison repeatedly exposed himself to machine-gun and shell fire to give first aid to the wounded in the open.
