The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Major St. Clair Agustin Mulholland, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on May 4 & 5, 1863, while serving with 116th Pennsylvania Infantry, in action at Chancellorsville, Virginia. In command of the picket line, Major Mulholland held the enemy in check all night to cover the retreat of the Army.
