The Navy Cross is awarded to Lieutenant Commander Stuart O. Greig, U.S. Navy, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as commanding officer of the U.S. Submarine K-6, which proceeded from Halifax to Ponta Delgada in October 1917, under its own power, arrived there ready for immediate service and was engaged in the hazardous and exacting duty of patrolling the waters in the vicinity of Azores until the Armistice.
