Furr, Private, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 82d Company, 6th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near Vierzy, France, July 19, 1918. Unaided, Private Furr crept forward in advance of his line, searched an underground tunnel, captured five Germans, and brought them back through heavy machine-gun and shell fire.
