William B. Little
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to William B. Little, Major, British Expeditionary Forces, for extraordinary heroism in action during the Ypres-Lys offensive, October 17, 1918, when closely affiliated with American troops. On one occasion, when Major Little was forming his battalion for the attack, the enemy put down a heavy barrage, inflicting many casualties. Regardless of the heavy enemy fire, this officer reassured his men and then gallantly led them in a successful attack. This action took place when fighting alongside the American 27th Division.
