Baker (ASN: 1327488), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving Company B, 1st Battalion, 85th Mountain Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, in action against enemy forces near Della Spe, Italy, on 5 & 6 March 1945. Second Lieutenant Bakers extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 10th Mountain Division, and the United States Army.
