The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Wilson D. Brookshire, Private, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Bellicourt, France, September 29, 1918. Private Brookshire, with one other soldier, attacked a machine-gun post which was causing much damage. They captured the post, taking prisoner one officer and eight men and put the machine gun out of action.
