World War II
Under the provisions of Army Regulations 600-45, as amended, a Silver Star Medal is awarded to: Wreno M. Hall 0518975 INF, First Lieutenant, Company A, 179th Infantry Regiment, for gallantry in action on 18 August 1944 near Barjols, France. When the advance of his platoon was temporarily slowed by enemy small arms fire, First Lieutenant Hall crawled forward toward the enemy positions. In spite of the enemy machine gun fire, First Lieutenant Hall destroyed the machine gun nest with hand grenades and fire from his carbine. His gallant conduct enabled his platoon to assault and overrun the enemy positions and reflects the high traditions of the Army of the United States.
