    The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Conrad Dequerte, Second Lieutenant, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action at Verst 455, near Obozerskaya, Russia, October 14, 1918. Attached as liaison officer to a Franco-American detachment during the attack, Lieutenant Dequerte placed himself at the head of a section of Infantry and led it against a strongly fortified position. He was among the first to make the objective. The energy displayed by this brilliant officer while exposed to heavy fire was an important factor in the successful attack.
