The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Service Cross to Douglas A. Macarthur (0-57), General of the Army, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy in action against enemy forces on 26 January 1945. General Macarthur’s inspiring leadership, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
