Henri Bardou
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Henri Bardou, Brigadier, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Massif Blanc Mont, France, October 8, 1918. During an attack by the Second American Division, he displayed marked coolness and bravery in guiding his tank through heavy counter-preparation fire during an approach march. He never hesitated to leave the protection of the tank the better to direct its advance. Later he showed great personal courage in going through heavy shell fire to the rescue of several wounded American soldiers.
