Robert Vivien
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Robert Vivien, Captain of Infantry, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Bois-les-Marettes, France, June 1, 1918, and at Villers-Cotterets Woods, France, July 18, 1918. Upon the arrival of the 9th Infantry in the Chateau-Thierry sector June 1, 1918, Captain Vivien assisted in placing several companies in position and established liaison with the French. At this time the position of the enemy was unknown. Captain Vivien performed this act of great risk of being captured by the enemy. In the attack south of Soissons Captain Vivien assisted in re-forming the line and reorganizing combat groups after the attack on the German positions.
