The Aerial Achievement Medal is a military decoration of the United States Armed Forces. The medal was first authorized on 5 July 1988 and is awarded to any member of the United States military who demonstrates extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. The medal is awarded to both pilots and crew members and can be awarded for achievements such as rescuing downed aircrew members, participating in combat operations, or flying in hazardous weather conditions.
