For participating in an expedition, operation or support of a U.S. Operation in Antarctica after 1 Jan 1946 to a date to be announced.

The Antarctica Service Medal was authorized in 1960 and is awarded not only to members of all branches of our Armed Services, but also to U.S. citizens or resident aliens who served on the Antarctic continent or in support of operations there.
