Meritorious Service Medal
(All Services)
Awarded to any member of the U.S. armed forces who distinguishes themselves by either outstanding achievement or meritorious service to the United States.
Established in 1969, the Meritorious Service Medal was established as the counterpart of the Bronze Star Medal for the recognition of meritorious noncombatant service. Currently, the Meritorious Service Medal is presented for either outstanding achievement or meritorious service in a combat-zone or setting.
