The Navy Occupation Service Medal was established by the United States Navy on 19 October 1944 to recognize those service members who had performed duty in the Navy or Marine Corps during the period of hostilities between 6 June 1944 and 2 September 1945 in the following areas: Europe, Africa, Asia, China, Japan, and Korea.
